This is a very special Christmas for hubs and I.
We are spending our 35th Christmas together this year. We are very thankful to be living in our new home in the country. A prayer come true.
We decided to go ALL out with our decorating this year.
Tubs and tubs of decorations came into the house - tubs of decorations we had not used for many years. We decided to put lots of the vintage decorations out and celebrate the many years we have had together. Each ornament brings back memories of Christmas' past; especially those spent when our children were little.
I think that one of the things that we have been really talking about, is how over the years we have built collections that somehow seem to go together in this home. It's like they were meant to be.
The red cabinet was $2 at a yard sale. It had sat in the man's back yard for years, he said - and it was a mess. Hubs repaired the top and I painted it with 5 coats of red paint. It is the "toy cupboard" and is filled with games and toys for the grands. The basket holds hubby's toy tractors that our grandson Trevor likes to play with. I love the green drop leaf table, and right now it sits here in the hallway with the big red Dutch shoes and some vintage linens. I layered vintage Christmas tableclothes on the top.
Over the years I have collected brooches at yard sales.
A teatowel by Heather!
Our sweet vintage stove covered with candy and cupcakes!
Last night we had a family dinner party and it was just so much fun for hubs and I. The tablecloths are actually eyelet cloth shower curtains. I love the ruffles on the edge!
Thank you Libby for the pretty mirror!
The large table is a piece of plywood over our existing table.
Thank you Jill, for this darling corner cupboard.
I found the stained glass dove at a yard sale for $10. I didn't want to pay $10, so I didn't buy it. Several months later it was at a different yard sale for $1. I added the scrolly pieces and painted the oak frame white. It is such a pretty color of peacock blue.
The Lord is good and His love endures forever.
Thank you Jesus, my Redeemer.
love your $2 red cupboard and the room looks fabulous..cannot wait to see more round the farmhouse
